Landscape and figure painting, relevant once more, as if only by its stark contrast to a high tech moving image era, has its long history and achievment and still reminds one of the natural passion involved with producing visual images


From the cave paintings at Lascaux, France to the Pre-Classic Minoan miniature frescoes we find ourselves transfixed. Greek Pottery, Renaissance Sculpture thru the Neo-Classic, Romantic, Symbolist and Fauvist period of Masters; the act of visual creation and its historical path can captivate the imagination.

An interest in architectural drawings and materials, (those temporary drawings of things and spaces) and an archiological attitude towards the design of personal dwelling space has lead to the use of this "found footage" of buildings/homes/electronics. In this art, Pre-existing markings (palimsests) lines and numbers are the creative, generative blocks: flotsam and jetsam. ie. indicators of human presence/intelligence/technology

In this constructed context, figures/landscapes; objects/subjects being conjured, surface. Trying to examine our/their own transformation. Will we come to know these Unnamed visitors of Oneric Dream space and learn from them?
